Greenwich aims to make this website easy for everyone to use and understand.

The site has been approved by the Plain English Campaign and has been given permission to display the Internet Crystal Mark.

Review and report

The Campaign was "very impressed" when they reviewed our site and sent us a full report of what they thought. Comments we received include:

  • Your site is certainly very comprehensive and seems to contain all the information a visitor could possibly want about Greenwich Council (and external links for any other information they might need).

  • Generally, your site is well written and in plain English. This means that the language and style are appropriate for the target audience – the public.

  • You make good use of short paragraphs and bullet lists, both of which we recommend.

  • Your pages all have a consistent design and layout, and the ‘standard’ colour scheme is clear. In any case, you use mainly black text on a white background and a clear (sans serif) typeface, which is the easiest to read for most people. Your headings and subheadings are also clear.

  • Your site is divided into logical sections, which is important given its size and the amount of information it holds.
