Street lighting

Badly lit streets can encourage crime in the area or lead to accidents. We inspect street lights regularly, but sometimes defects can occur between inspections.

How to report a street lighting fault?

Tell us the street name and nearest house number, or the number of the lamp column so we can get to the location quickly.

Report a street lighting fault using our online form.

By email and telephone

To report a dangerous street light out of office hours, ring 020 8854 8888.

If the problem is in a Council estate, or on the outside of a Council block, phone 020 8921 4661 or email cleansweep@greenwich.gov.uk.

If the problem is on a public street, road or highway, or in a public park, phone 020 8921 5419 or email contact-centre@greenwich.gov.uk

What happens next?

Once we receive your report, we will inspect the problem within two working days.

We will usually change the bulbs within three working days. However, if the problem is related to an underground cable fault, repairs will take longer.
