Car repairs on roads

Car repairs on carriageways in the borough can cause dangerous obstructions. Here, you can find out how to enquire or make a complaint about car repairs.

It is an offence to carry out repairs on a public highway for gain. However car repairs can be carried out within reason on private land providing the landowner's permission has been obtained.

How to report a problem

Anyone can make a complaint or an enquiry about car repairs on the road. This can be done anonymously if preferred.

If the repairs are being carried out on a public street, road or highway, telephone 020 8921 5481 or email edi.highways@greenwich.gov.uk

To report a problem with repairs carried out on a Council estate road, please contact your local Neighbourhood Office.

An engineer will then inspect the site and, if appropriate, will take enforcement action.

Reports of cars being sold on a public highway will be referred to the Council's Trading Standards department.
