Fly-tipping (illegal rubbish dumping)

Picture of a fly tip Rubbish: Would you want this in your back yard?
Dumping rubbish on the streets is unsightly, dangerous and unacceptable. We work with the Police, the Environment Agency and surrounding London boroughs to prevent this practice, known as fly-tipping. If the offenders are identified we prosecute them.

How to report a fly-tipping problem

You can report by mail, phone, email or online form:

We will need as much information on the person(s) responsible as possible, for example, the person's description, or the vehicle's registration number.

What happens next

We will remove all small fly-tips (equivalent to a small van load) within 24 hours and, if possible, take action against those responsible.

Large fly-tips, classified as anything larger than a small van load, will be dealt with by contractors within four working days on a priority basis.

Want to get rid of bulky household items?

If you want to get rid of something big and bulky, like a sofa or a fridge, Greenwich Council also offers a bulky refuse service.
