In 2005/06, we recycled 22,850 tonnes of waste. With your help we can do so much more. Please take time to dispose of your rubbish in a responsible manner and recycle it whenever possible.
Every tonne less to be disposed of means a financial saving to the council which in turn means improved services for you.
Help us to help you reduce your waste by:
- not buying heavily packed goods
- using refillable containers where possible
- using your own shopping bags, boxes or re-use plastic shopping bags
- buying unpackaged food where possible
- re-using paper as scrap
- returning bottles, if returnable
- cancelling delivery of unwanted ‘free’ newspapers
- eliminating junk mail by contacting the Mailing Preference Service at mps@dma.org.uk or on 020 7766 4410 (or write to them at: Mailing Preference Service, Freepost 29, LON20771, London, W1E 0ZT.) and emailing the Fax Preference Service and Telephone Preference Service.
What you can’t reduce, recycle.
