All mixed dry recyling should go into your blue-top bin or clear sacks, which we clear weekly. Remember to rinse out your containers first.
Tip: Squashing down plastic bottles will give you more room in your bin.
What is mixed dry recycling?
Here is what you can put in your blue-top bin or clear sacks.
Cans:
- drink cans (rinsed)
- food cans (rinsed)
- ready meal containers (washed)
- foil
- empty aerosol cans
Cardboard:
- greeting cards
- all boxes
- food packets
- toilet roll/kitchen roll inserts
Glass:
- drinks bottles (clear and coloured)
- food jars and bottles
Paper:
- newspapers
- magazines
- envelopes
- junk mail
- directories
- catalogues
- shredded paper (bagged)
Plastic:
- plastic bottles (drinks, milk, toiletries, household fluids, etc)
- supermarket carrier bags
- food packaging
What NOT to put in your blue-top bin
Please do not put these items in your blue-top bin as our recycling facility cannot sort them:
- wire coat hangers
- waxed food and beverage cartons (such as 'Tetra Paks')
- polystyrene
- plastic garden furniture
- plastic toys
- batteries and electrical appliances
Recycling banks
You can recycle waxed cartons, batteries and electrical appliances at most of our recycling banks or at the reuse and recycling centre.

About the reuse and recycling centre
Materials Recycling Facility
All your mixed dry recycling will go to our Materials Recycling Facility to be sorted and baled.
The Council then sends these bales to be recycled.
