Neighbourhood improvement plan

The plan sets out local priorities and actions needed for the West priority area as identified by the West panel.

Key projects include youth diversionary activities at Creekside and the West Greenwich Family Centre.
  • Youth diversionary activities - Creekside

Boy swinging on a ropeThis project helps to tackle problems associated with insufficient youth services. It aims to promote personal and social development in young people.

The project gives children and young people in the Creekside area a chance to take part in activities that they would not normally be able to do, including:

    • horse riding
    • rock climbing
    • mountain biking
    • canoeing
    • ice skating
    • music projects.
The activities, organised by a consortium of four agencies, take place during term time and holidays. The agencies are:

    • Armada Community Project
    • Greenwich Children And Young People's Service
    • AHOY Centre
    • Deptford Youth Forum.
  • West Greenwich Family Centre

Happy baby with two ladiesThe Morden Mount Community and Families Services offers support to children and their families in the West Greenwich Neighbourhood. This was developed as part of the Children And Families neighbourhood renewal programme.

Part of the funding was used to build a new annexe to Morden Mount school and for improvements to make the building accessible for community use.

A wide range of services now operate on the campus. Families can get access to:

    • integrated services
    • parenting support
    • family learning and enrichment activities.
Parental and community involvement helps make the project work.

Further funding was secured in the 2006-08 programme. This has enabled the services to continue and grow. As the project develops over time, we will get a chance to measure the impact of the activities on educational attainment.
