Neighbourhood improvement plan

The plan sets out local priorities and actions needed for the Greater Woolwich priority area as identified by the Woolwich panel.

Key projects include the Clockhouse Community Centre Breakfast and After-School Club, and St Mary's Church Under-5s project.
  • Clockhouse Community Centre Breakfast and After-School Club

Three children from the after-school club at a billiard table This club provides accessible and affordable childcare for the local community. It plays a key role in the educational progress of 45 children who live in the Woolwich Riverside ward.

The children have a healthy and nutritious meal before and after school, and receive out-of-school hours learning.

The club enables parents to have more time to take up employment, training or further education opportunities. It also provides access to a wide variety of resources, including community information.
  • St Mary's Church Under-5s project

Under-fives playing with toys The project improves a child's chances in life by helping him or her gain social communication skills before entry to primary school.

There is now a special-needs worker who provides additional support to children with special needs and their families or carers. This ensures that the children with special needs have access to assistance at an early age, so they can go on to enter mainstream education.
