For over ten years, the Council has orchestrated one of the largest regeneration programmes in the country. Over 4million square metres (1,000 acres) of derelict land has been remediated as many of the key sites in the borough have been regenerated.

Transport

Successful lobbying for improved transport infrastructure has secured the DLR to Greenwich and Woolwich, the Jubilee Line extension and North Greenwich station.

The Council has also resolved to grant permission for the Thames Gateway Bridge.

Housing

Vast amounts of new housing have been built and are under construction in the borough.

Greenwich will see an increase of 23,000 dwellings between 2003 and 2016. This is deliberately being provided in a range of tenure and mixes and over a third will be affordable housing.

The Council has been awarded Beacon status for affordable housing.

Jobs and business

Thousands of new jobs have been created. The Council has maximised local employment and business benefits from the development of key sites in Greenwich and across the Thames Gateway.

Massive public and private investment has helped to improve the borough's infrastructure, making it a more attractive and viable location for businesses.

The Council has placed a high priority on working with new and indigenous businesses to capture the benefits of regeneration for the local economy.

The Greenwich Business Support Service has advised 400 businesses in the past year, creating 51 jobs and Business Works has helped ten new businesses set up.
