In 2000 the Woolwich and North Bexley Partnership successfully bid for more than £10 million of Government money to implement a seven-year programme of measures to improve the area as a location for manufacturing industry.
The programme encouraged modern manufacturing development and local recruitment for the jobs that were generated.
The funds were used in a variety of partnership projects. This enabled the £10 million to go much further, attracting an additional £50 million from businesses, developers, Bexley and Greenwich Councils, as well as local community organisations, the European Union and other funding sources.
