Kidbrooke Compulsory Purchase Order

The Council has served a Compulsory Purchase Order (CPO) on all parties who have an interest in land in the area around the Ferrier Estate (shown in the Kidbrooke CPO area maps, which you can download from this page).

The order has been sent to the Secretary of State for a decision and will help deliver the overall redevelopment proposals granted planning permission on 24 June 2009.

Coming stages of the redevelopment

Purpose of the CPO

The compulsory purchase of land is to:

  • enable comprehensive development and regeneration to proceed

  • ensure that works for infrastructure, environmental improvements and the formation of the development site can take place at an early date

  • enable the timely management and delivery of the project.

CPO status

The order was served on 11 November 2008 under the relevant government regulations and legislation:

  • Town and Country Planning Act 1990
  • Acquisition of Land Act 1981
Objections to the CPO were made to the Secretary of State. On 22 May 2009, the Secretary of State decided to hold a public local inquiry.

The public inquiry was held on 19 January 2010 and closed on 21 January 2010. There was also a pre-inquiry meeting on Thursday, 5 November 2009.
