Number of offers
We will offer you up to two homes. We will also keep you regularly informed of your options to buy a home under the low-cost home ownership scheme.
What happens if I refuse the Council’s offers?
If you refuse both offers of council accommodation, the law allows us to ask a court to enforce the offer – in other words, to make it compulsory. However, you do have the right to appeal against an offer. You can appeal on these grounds:
The property is the wrong size
The property is in an area you have excluded
The property isn’t ready to live in
The Council hasn’t taken full account of any special needs.
You may wish to contact an
independent advice agency
who can offer you more information and advice on your legal rights.
