The Council has signed a Comprehensive Development Agreement with Berkeley Homes (East Thames) Ltd. Berkley Homes is the Council's development partner.
Berkeley Homes will provide, among other things:
- the majority of new homes
- community facilities
- improved transport infrastructure
- local shops
- a new extended park.
Other partners
The Council and Berkeley Homes are working with other partners, including:
- Southern Housing Group and ASRA - two housing associations working with Berkeley Homes to provide affordable housing in the area
- Housing Corporation - the government agency that funds and regulates Registered Social Landlords, which has agreed in principle to contribute about £6million to the first phase of affordable housing in Kidbrooke
- English Partnerships - a government regeneration agency that has agreed a grant of nearly £45million for the scheme.
The English Partnerships grant will pay for:
- planning applications
- the demolition of the Ferrier Estate
- preparatory and infrastructure works for the cleared site.
