Meridian Delta
The regeneration of Greenwich Peninsula reached a major milestone in June 2004 with the conclusion of the deal, which will deliver £4 billion of private sector investment along with thousands of new homes and jobs.
The landmark regeneration scheme will provide:
- 10,000 new homes
- 24,000 new jobs
- two new schools
- nursery and health provision
- transport improvements
- support for local employment and training
The Council approved a Design code for the development of the site in September 2005. Development of the 1.21million-square metre (299-acre) site will continue over the next twenty years.
The O2, a world class entertainments and sports arena opened in July 2007.
