Low Emission Zone

Greenwich was the first local authority in the country to declare a Low Emission Zone (LEZ), namely the Greenwich Peninsula LEZ.

What is an LEZ?

An LEZ is an area that has restrictions on the type and age of vehicles permitted in it.

This means that we control vehicle emissions in the zone by preventing vehicles that emit high levels of pollution from entering and operating within the zone.

Where is the LEZ?

The LEZ currently operates around The O2  (formerly the Dome).

It will also operate around planned developments directly to the south of The O2.

Controlling vehicle movement associated with the new developments is an example of how we can control traffic emissions.
