Supplementary Planning Documents
We are in the process of preparing the Local Development Framework, which will replace the Unitary Development Plan.
A number of documents, known as Supplementary Planning Documents (SPDs), will support the framework.
Major development projects
Major planning applications including those for the Peninsula are dealt with by our Development Team.
A large part of the Council's role is negotiating legal agreements to make sure any proposals benefit the local community and any negative impact is offset. Benefits include:
- affordable housing
- education and health care facilities
- training and employment initiatives
- public transport improvements
- promoting environmental sustainability
- provision and maintenance of parks and open spaces, and
- improvements to the road network
