Who makes the decisions?

The Planning Board and its sub-committees make decisions on major planning applications and highway matters. They look at the impact on the borough as a whole and assess any comments they have received.

The Chief Planning Officer or Head of Development will decide whether or not to grant planning permission in the majority of cases.

But if there are two or more objections to an application, and the recommendation is to approve, the application is passed to the relevant area planning committee, which will make the decision.

For developments that are of strategic importance, the Planning Board will decide on the application.
