We ensure the safety of people in and around buildings. We operate a 24-hour emergency call-out service to deal with dangerous structures.
During working hours:
Call Greenwich Building Control on 020 8921 5413.
Outside working hours:
Call emergency services on 020 8856 1116.
What to report
If you know of a building or structure that could pose a threat to the safety of people near it, report it. A building can become dangerous or unstable as a result of:
- vehicle impact
- serious neglect
- incorrect building works
- lightning strike
- overloading parts of the building.
Once you have made the report, a building control surveyor will visit the site within three hours. The surveyor will assess the danger and decide on the best course of action.
We will get the owner's agents to carry out any urgent works. If that is not possible, we then contact our emergency contractor to work on the problem.
