Self-certification schemes
Self-certification schemes are special arrangements where contractors are trained and licensed to do work in accordance with building regulations. Self-certified work is generally with fixed heating systems and replacement windows.
If you want to use these schemes, finding out about your contractor is very important. Check in advance whether they are eligible and registered with the appropriate scheme.
Fixed heating appliances
To check whether your contractor is registered and for further safety information, contact:
CORGI - the national group for gas safety
HETAS - the official body for solid fuel heating appliances and servicing
OFTEC - the official body to approve oil fired heating appliances and services
Replacement windows
FENSA – the official body for replacement window installers
