Demolitions
If you are planning a demolition, you need to notify Greenwich Building Control six weeks before starting any works.
This is to allow sufficient time for:
gathering the documents and information relating to the process
consulting with various organisations
preparing any comments or requirements.
How to give notice
Our demolition notice form can help you with giving notice. Just fill out the form and send it to the address provided.

Contractors' responsibility
Generally, demolition activity causes increased levels of dust, noise and vibration. Contractors should use best practice methods to reduce inconvenience to a minimum.
The Council has powers to work with contractors in achieving a responsible demolition and to prosecute those who fail to comply.
Background
The 2004 London Local Authorities Act made Sections 80 to 83 of the Building Act 1984 (dealing with demolition) enforeceable within the inner London area. Before 2004, demolition was largely uncontrolled in London.
