Avery Hill Park

This large, open parkland with many splendid trees, is notable for its Winter Garden (a magnificent hothouse), containing tropical trees and plants from around the world.
There is a  also a rose garden adjacent, affording a pleasant place to sit and relax.

Winter Garden

The Winter Garden was part of a splendid mansion owned by the Victorian entrepreneur John Thomas North. North made his fortune by exporting fertiliser from Chile.

The London County Council acquired the site in July 1902, and Greenwich Council has maintained the park land since the abolition of the Greater London Council in 1985.

Park café

A small café is situated in the centre of the park, next to the children's playground.
