Chinchillas
Chinchillas originate from the Andes in South America. They are a small-squirrel sized animal (about ten to 14 inches long) with a tail five to six inches long.
They have extremely soft fur. With proper care they can live for 15 to 20 years. Their diet consists of roots, grasses, grain, bark, fruit, leaves, seeds and nuts.
Lucy and Bushy
Lucy and Bushy are our resident chinchillas. Lucy was born on 9 April 1994. Bushy, a grey coloured male, joined her on 2 June 2006. They are an extremely friendly pair.
To sponsor a Chinchilla will cost £25 a year, which helps to pay for their food and vet's bills.
