This large open expanse of grass, with areas of woodland, like Shooters Hill, was once the haunt of highwaymen. There’s a cave in the woods named after the most famous, Dick Turpin.

Heathland project
The park has secured a grant to re-establish an area of heathland. It is hoped that work on this project will begin late 2007.
