Report a dog related problem

If you witness a breach of Dog Control Order, have a problem with dog fouling in your local area or would like an overflowing bin cleared up, you can report it by phone or email.

Breach of Dog Control Orders

To report a breach, call 020 8921 4661 (lines are open 8am to 8pm on weekdays, 8am to 1pm weekends).

You can also send an email about the problem to contact-centre@greenwich.gov.uk.

What we do with your report

If you know the alleged offender, an authorised officer will contact you to obtain a statement.

If we have enough evidence, the Council will issue a Fixed Penalty Notice (a £75 fine) or prosecute the offender.

Enforcement of Dog Control Orders

If you do not know the alleged offender, the Council will carry out further investigation with the information that you and other residents have provided.

Overflowing bins

If the dog waste or litter bin is full, call 020 8921 4661 (between 8am and 8pm on weekdays, 8am to 1pm weekends).

Dog fouling

To report a problem with dog fouling in your area, call 020 8921 4661 (between 8am and 8pm on weekdays, 8am to 1pm weekends).

You can also report dog fouling online.

Aggressive dogs

If you encounter a dog behaving aggressively or causing you to fear for your safety, call 999 to report it to the police.

You can also report incidents directly to your Safer Neighbourhoods Team.

The police can, where appropriate, take action under the Dangerous Dog Act 1991.

Remember, dogs are inquisitive and barking is a natural behaviour. If a dog should bark or approach you, it does not necessarily mean that it intends to cause you harm.
