You can apply to vote by post instead of going to a polling place, without needing to give a reason.

As a security measure, you must give your signature and date of birth when applying. These are used to compare against your signature and date of birth on a postal vote statement which you must return with your postal vote.
What to do if you forget to post your vote
If you forget to send your postal vote, you can take it to one of the
polling stations
on polling day and the polling staff will arrange for your postal vote to be sent to the count.
