Eltham Centre Open: The new Eltham Centre
The new Eltham Centre is now open.

The Centre gives you access to leisure, learning facilities and Council services all in one place.

Putting our customers first

The Eltham Centre provides facilities at the heart of the town centre, making it more convenient for you to carry out your Council-related business under one roof. It provides a local contact point for various Council services including:
  • advice and benefits
  • Cleansweep
  • waste services
  • Council Tax
  • Business Rates
  • tenancy services
  • cashier services.

When is it open?

The Centre opening hours are:
  • Monday to Friday - 7am to 10pm 
  • Saturday and Sunday - 9am to 5pm 
Please note that not all services are available throughout the Centre's operating hours.

General services

Most Council services are available on:
  • Monday to Friday 8am to 10pm
  • Saturday and Sunday 9am to 5pm.
During these times, you can:
  • request a Council service
  • submit evidence to support benefits claims
  • apply for a Freedom Pass or Blue Badge
  • apply for a school
  • receive general information and advice on Council services.

Specialist advice and  payments

You can also:

  • pay Council bills or rent at our cash office 
  • receive advice on Council Tax, benefits and housing.
These services are available at: 

  • Monday to Thursday 9am to 5pm
  • Friday 9am to 4.30pm. 
You can pay by cash, cheque or card. Cheques should be made out to 'Greenwich Council'.

Of course, you can always use our online payment facility and save yourself a trip.

New library

Inside the new Centre is Eltham Library, which has been refurbished. An automated self-service facility operates both during and outside library opening hours.

There is also free internet access, with over 40 computers for public use.

The opening times for the library are:
  • Monday 9am to 7pm
  • Tuesday 9am to 5.30pm
  • Wednesday 9am to 5.30pm
  • Thursday 9am to 7pm
  • Friday 9am to 5.30pm
  • Saturday 9am to 5pm
  • Sunday 10am to 4pm.

Health and fitness

The new Eltham Centre provides first class leisure facilities, replacing the Eltham Pools and Health and Fitness Centre.

Facilities include:
  • an 8-lane 25m competition pool with a seated spectator viewing area
  • family pool
  • health suite with spa pool, sauna, steam room and jacuzzi
  • 100-station fitness centre with the latest cardiovascular and resistance machines
  • group exercise studio providing a range of classes including aerobics and Pilates
  • crèche for the under-5s.
You can sign up for swimming lessons for all ages and abilities run by the London Swim School.

There are several types of membership available, which centre staff will be happy to talk you through.

Learning facilities

Greenwich Community College conducts courses at 11 classrooms at the Eltham Centre.

Day courses run by London Leisure College include:

  • travel and tourism
  • sports therapy and hospitality
  • leisure and tourism.
In the evenings and at weekends, you can attend a range of general interest and part time qualification courses such as:

  • languages
  • line dancing
  • skills for life.

GreenwichCard holders will receive a discount on all general interest courses by showing their card when they enrol.

Citizens Advice

Greenwich Citizens Advice Bureau has a new fully accessible office at the Eltham Centre. You can get help and advice by pre-booking an appointment. Appointments are available on:

  • Thursday 2pm to 4pm; 5pm to 7pm
  • Friday 10am to 12noon
To make an appointment, call 020 8312 7312 Monday to Friday between 2pm and 3pm. You can also email greenwichcab@btopenworld.com, send a fax to  020 8850 7774 or write to Eltham Greenwich Citizens Advice Bureau at the Eltham Centre address.

You must live, work or study within Greenwich borough, in postcodes SE3, SE9, SE10 or SE12.

If you prefer, you can get telephone advice by calling 08451 202931 during the following hours:

  • Tuesday and Thursday 2.30pm to 3.30pm
  • Wednesday 10am  to 11am
  • Friday 11am to 12noon; 2.30pm to 3.30pm.
