CARE Partners: a shared future
CARE is one of the few case studies included in the main Commission on Integration and Cohesion (CIC) report Our Shared Future.
CARE is also included in an accompanying sister document called Integration and Cohesion Case Studies - a collection of "inspiring and excellent local projects" that the CIC consider examples of best practice.
Independent judgement
The Commission on Integration and Cohesion is an independent advisory body that was set up in 2006 to explore the ways that different communities relate, and what might be done to bring people together. The Commission published 'Our Shared Future,' its final report, in June 2007.
The report is based on an unprecedented level of consultation and engagement, with more than 2000 local people and practitioners being consulted for the report.
Pleased by case study recognition
Martin Simons, Chair of Charlton Athletic and Joint Chair of CARE Partnership said: “CARE has a very impressive track record of delivering some great work in the local community, and Charlton is extremely proud to be involved in such a unique partnership between a football club and a local authority.
"CARE is a very exciting project, and its success is based on using the power of sport and the universal appeal of art as a vehicle for bringing people from different backgrounds together."
CIC statement launch
As part of the CIC process, CARE hosted the launch of the CIC's Interim Statement at Charlton Athletic Football Club earlier this year. Cabinet Minister Ruth Kelly spoke at this event, as did Council Leader Chris Roberts.
