Eltham Palace

1. Eltham Palace

For two centuries Eltham Palace was the Royal Family's favourite country residence. The interior has rooms panelled in native and exotic woods and is one of the country’s finest examples of the Art Deco period.

Well Hall Pleasaunce2. Well Hall Pleasaunce and The Tudor Barn

The Well Hall Pleasaunce in Well Hall Road is an award winning public park that has recently been restored with Heritage Lottery Funding. Within the grounds stand The Tudor Barn, which is available for hire and open as a tea room on Monday to Friday from 9am to 3pm.

3. Eltham Lodge and Royal Blackheath Golf Club

Eltham Lodge is a classical mansion built in 1664 by Hugh May for Sir John Shaw, a banker at the court of King Charles II. Since 1923 it has been the clubhouse of the Royal Blackheath Golf Club. The house can be visited by prior arrangement with the Secretary. (Telephone: 020 8850 1795).

4. Eltham Centre

The Eltham Centre, the first of three integrated local service centres to be built by Greenwich Council, is one of the first of its kind in the country. It opened in November 2007 and hosts a range of council, education and first-class leisure facilities.

Bob Hope Theatre

5. Bob Hope Theatre

The Bob Hope Theatre was originally built as Eltham Parish Hall in 1910. It was renamed The Bob Hope Theatre in 1982. The Theatre provides a wide range of entertainment and is home to many local drama groups.

6. St John the Baptist Parish Church

Several churches have stood on the site of the Parish Church of St John the Baptist in Eltham High Street (junction with Well Hall Road).  The present building in an early English style by Sir Arthur Blomfield dates from 1872, but inside the remains of a sarcophagus from the original 12th century church can be seen, as well as an early 19th century royal coat of arms.

Avery Hill Park7. Avery Hill Park

This large, open parkland with many splendid trees is notable for its Winter Garden, containing tropical trees and plants from around the world. There is also a rose garden, play area and café.

8. The Tarn

The Tarn in Court Road contains a beautiful landscaped garden and lake with interesting wild fowl.  Many original features have been retained from the 1930s. There is also a picnic area and an 18th Century ice well.

9. Eltham Park South

Eltham Park South is a large, grassy area with a number of sports areas including recently refurbished tennis courts.
