Centres and forums
Eltham offers a number of facilities for community groups and individuals.
Eltham service centre
The new
Eltham Centre
is the Council’s first 'one-stop' service centre.
The Centre hosts counters for Council services alongside:
three swimming pools with a spectator area
a fitness centre
dance studio and healthy living centre
an improved library with more computers
a new branch of the Greenwich Community College
meeting spaces
a café
children's area.
The new Centre is part of the Council's programme to modernise its services.

St Mary's Community Centre
The St Mary’s Community Centre, in the middle of Eltham High Street, has been a meeting point for community groups for many years and is available for bookings.

South Greenwich Forum
South Greenwich Forum is an information exchange working for the local community. It is open to any local group, however small, or any borough wide group serving the south. Forum members receive regular updates on events and progress.

Eltham Society
The Eltham Society was founded in 1965 with the motto “Preserving the past, Conserving the present, Protecting the future”. The Society takes a keen interest in the physical environment of Eltham and any plans for future developments.
The Society carries out research into Eltham’s history and presents its own publications and exhibitions where local people are encouraged to contribute their reminiscences.
Since its foundation, the Eltham Society has:
built up archives of material on Eltham, including written records, photographs and artefacts
published books and other material on Eltham’s history, amenities, buildings and prominent citizens
undertaken special activities in Eltham including archaeology, tree planting and the erection of the Eltham Town Sign.
