Railway lines
There are three main railway lines through the Borough providing links to central London and Kent. One serves several stations across the north of the borough, while the other two across the southern part of the borough serve Eltham and New Eltham.
Major roads
Major roads in the borough include:
A102M – a motorway serving the Blackwall Tunnel:
A206 - Woolwich Road across the north of the Borough
A205 South Circular, linked to the North Circular Road by the Woolwich Free Ferry
A207 Shooters Hill Road, which follows the route of a former Roman Road from London to Dartford
A2 Rochester Way relief road and the A20 Sidcup bypass, both of which are major routes from Kent into London.
The Transportation and Highways section of Greenwich Council is directly responsible for a variety of tasks in the borough including:
maintaining in excess of 400 kms of road carriageway and 800 kms of footways
taking responsibility for 86 kms of cycleways
having 96.5% of Greenwich’s 20,400 streetlights in working order at any one time
operating the boroughs controlled parking zones and 9 public car parks.
Public transport links
Over 40 bus routes operate in the borough, the three Docklands Light Railway stations at Cutty Sark, Greenwich and Deptford recorded just under 8 million passenger journeys in the last year, Network Rail shows a 2% increase in use each year, and London Underground reported a 10% increase in Jubilee Line use from North Greenwich in 2004/05.

These include consultation on and implementation of new Traffic Management Schemes, the production of Transport Plans and Policy Documents, and input into future transport projects (such as the Docklands Light Railway extension to Woolwich, Crossrail, the
Thames Gateway Bridge
and
Greenwich Waterfront Transit
).
