Year 9 students at Crown Woods School, Riefield Road, examined a ‘crime scene’ at school as part of the judging process for the final round of the Rolls Royce Science Prize.
The school is in the final four of the prestigious national prize, which rewards and promotes teamwork in science teaching throughout the UK and the Republic of Ireland.
The students used forensic examination techniques such as fingerprinting and taking samples at a mocked up murder scene at the school.
Shona Findlay from Crown Woods said:
“The school are thrilled that we have got this far in the competition. The staff and students have worked extremely hard and so congratulations to them. At Crown Woods, we aim to bring science alive for the students. Last week’s ‘forensic’ examinations show how science can be made interesting and relevant.”
