Car Free Day!

August 10

The Greenwich Car Free Day is set for a pit stop in Cutty Sark Gardens next month, where Greenwich residents will be setting an example to the rest of the country to leave their cars at home for the day.

The annual event is scheduled for Sunday September 17, between 1pm and 5pm in Greenwich Town Centre.

Whether residents walk, cycle, catch a bus, take the train or even hop abroad a boat for the day… all are encouraged to leave their cars on their drives for the day and come and join the fun-packed afternoon of activities and performances down at the town centre.

This year’s festival is the fifth Greenwich Car Free Day since Greenwich Council brought the scheme to the borough in 2001. It has special significance this year after being declared London’s best sustainable transport event for 2005.

Car Free Day aims to demonstrate the benefits of a healthier, car-less environment and the great alternatives that are on offer.

For more information on this year’s events please contact the Tourist Information Centre, 2 Pepys House, Cutty Sark Gardens, SE10. Telephone: 0870 608 2000.
