What is the Audit Commission?

 
The Audit Commission is an independent watchdog set up to make sure that public money is spent as economically, efficiently and effectively as possible in the areas of local government, housing, health and criminal justice services.

The Audit Commission makes sure the BVPP has been published and presented correctly and produces a Corporate Assessment report on each council.
