Greenwich Council was awarded Beacon Status in 2005 for its work in promoting sustainable tourism.
Greenwich is one of only six Councils in England, and the only London borough, to receive Beacon Status from the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister.
Innovation and good practice
Greenwich provided overwhelming evidence to show the Council’s innovation and good practice in terms of vision and leadership, provision of services, partnership working and maximising the benefits of tourism for local people, including new hotels and bed and breakfast accommodation.
