To improve accessibility to services, the Council is developing a series of integrated service centres. These centres offer a range of easy-to-access leisure, library, community and Council services all under one roof.
Find out more about local service centres.
We also have a Contact Centre with eight services which enables staff to:
- log requests
- give information about the Council
- build-up a history of customer contacts
- provide feedback to customers on the progress of requests.
These facilities are supplemented by service access at other Council buildings including libraries, community centres and schools.
Accessible information
The Council works in partnership with Working with Words to reproduce its communications in formats that are more accessible for people with learning disabilities.
We also provide training in computers and multimedia equipment and employ five people with learning disabilities.
The Welfare Rights Service helps the borough's most vulnerable and deprived residents access benefits.

Ensuring equal access
The Council set up a project where people with learning disabilities visit public venues to check accessibility, then meet with the venue and also produce a newsletter to compare the different places.
Accessible homes and buildings
Greenwich has produced a design guide for wheelchair-accessible housing, aimed at Registered Social Landlords, local authorities, occupational therapists, developers and architects.

The Council is developing an Accessible Buildings Consultancy within the Housing Disability and Home Improvement Team to extend a range of services to other agencies and individuals.
