Your Council Tax bill depends on the value of your home, but some people may be able to get their bill reduced or apply for benefits to help them pay.

Assess your eligibility for discounts online

You can now assess your eligibility for Council Tax discounts online with our Council Tax Wizard.

The Council Tax Wizard will ask you questions about your situation, and then tell you whether you are likely to be entitled to a discount. The information that you submit is sent to a Council Officer for assessment.

You may be able to claim a discount if, for example, you live alone or your property is not occupied. There are also specific discounts available if a member of your household is disabled.

If you are on a low income, you may be eligible for Council Tax Benefit.
