Social Inclusion Scrutiny Panel

 
The Social Inclusion Scrutiny Panel was established as part of the Council's aim to make social inclusion integral to its organisational structure, policy and practices. The panel supports this aim and the implementation of the Local Government Equality Standards in particular.

Panel meetings

Meetings are usually held bi-monthly, on the last Thursday of the month, at the Woolwich Town Hall.

Attending meetings

You have a right to attend council meetings.

If you want to put forward a question on an agenda item for consideration at the meeting, it must be received in writing 24 hours before the meeting.

Panel responsibilities

The Council is determined to make social inclusion integral to its organisational structure, policy and practices. This panel supports this aim and, in particular, the implementation of the Local Government Equality Standards.

  • Reduce discrimination and promote equality of race, gender, disability, age and sexual orientation
  • Reduce poverty, particularly child poverty, and tackle financial exclusion
  • Improve access to local services
  • Regenerate the most disadvantaged areas in the borough
  • Raise educational standards
  • Reduce health inequalities
  • Improve access to good quality affordable housing
  • Reduce crime and the fear of crime

Performance monitoring

This panel is responsible for monitoring service performance indicators, concentrating on those third and fourth quarter performances which fall within its remit.
