Greenwich Local Labour and Business (GLLaB)
Services to local people
Apprenticeships, work experience placement, voluntary work
GLLaB works in partnership with a range of organisations that from time to time ask GLLaB to recruit apprentices. There are age limits for apprenticeship schemes, which are normally 16-24 years old.
Paid work experience programmes are also managed by GLLaB. These last 26 weeks and give unemployed residents a chance to improve or develop their skills in the workplace.
GLLaB works in partnership with Volunteer Centre Greenwich to support unemployed residents with voluntary work placements to help them gain practical work experience and qualification training in a range of settings.
GLLaB is currently managing two volunteer programmes:
Personal Best,
which gives participants the opportuntiy to apply for volunteering for the 2012 Games, and
Major Events
, a volunteering programme in partnership with O2 operators AEG. During the programme participants can volunteer to help at non-profit making events held at the 02, with the last event being the World Gymnastic event in October 2009.
