Woolwich Crossrail campaign

Woolwich - the missing link on the Crossrail plans

The Council has been running a campaign for a Crossrail station in Woolwich.

As part of our presentation, we produced a special video to back the campaign.
Our request was then presented to Parliament. We also worked with the suppliers to bring costs down. Recently, the government announced that Woolwich will be re-introduced into the Bill.

The proposals will next be considered by a House of Lords Committee before being given approval in Parliament. This is expected to take place in autumn 2007 or early 2008.

The Bill is on target for final approval by the Queen in May 2008.

In the campaign film, Nick Raynsford, MP for Greenwich and Woolwich, joins local people and business leaders to support the scheme.

Plus, there are graphics of how the Crossrail line will travel across London and cross the Thames to arrive in Woolwich.

You will need to have Windows Media Player or Real Player on your computer to watch the video.

But don't worry if you don't have either of them – a pop-up window will take you to a page where you can download the software for free.
