Rail service improvements

5 January 2010

Improvements to rail services - including new timetables and the introduction of Oystercard pay-as-you-go - have been introduced.

Oystercard on rail services

Commuters travelling within the Greater London area (zones 1 to 9) are now able to use their Oystercards on rail services. The new scheme came into effect on 2 January 2010.

The roll-out of the scheme follows an agreement between Transport for London (TfL), transport secretary Andrew Adonis and the train operating companies, to extend Oyster to all national rail routes within Greater London, zones 1 to 9, that currently accept Travelcards.

No need for separate tickets

With the new scheme, thousands of passengers now have access to bus, underground, Tramlink and Docklands Light Rail services without having to buy separate tickets.

The move follows the recent introduction of Oystercards on Thames Clippers, after a campaign led by Greenwich Time, the Council's weekly paper.

Timetable changes

Southeastern train timetables have changed from Sunday, 13 December 2009.

Please ensure that you check your train times before travelling. Although there is an overall increase in train numbers some existing services are no longer running or have been rescheduled.

Copies of the timetables can be found at all network stations.

Download new route timetables from the Southeastern Railway website.

Travel information is also available on Transport for London's Journey Planner and on the Southeastern Railway website.
