Using Oyster on your Smartcard
What is Oyster® ?
Oyster® is the new way to pre pay for travel in London and buy season tickets.
Pre pay
Your card can be used immediately for Oyster® Pre Pay. All you need to do is charge pre pay to your card at any tube station or Oyster ticket shop.
You can then use your card for travel on the tube, DLR, buses and trams.
Season tickets
You can also use your card for season tickets (7 day, monthly, annual Travelcards or bus passes). Depending on the type of season ticket you buy, the card can then be used on bus, tramlink, DLR, tube and national rail services.
If you wish to buy a season ticket you will need to
register
with Transport for London.
