Should I register Oyster® with Transport for London?

 
If you intend to use a season ticket on Oyster® then you must register with Transport for London.

If your borough smartcard is lost or stolen, Transport for London will give you a new card or refund your money. You can also make use of the online service to renew your season ticket.

Pre pay only

If you are only using Oyster pre pay than it is up to you whether you register or not.

If you lose your smartcard and it is not registered then you will not be able to get your money back, so registering is advisable.
