Working towards a safer borough

There is no single way to solve the problem of controlling traffic and promoting road safety. A variety of traffic calming measures - such as speed humps or mini roundabouts - are needed.

Follow the links on your left to find out more about the controls we use.

Road safety projects

These work in conjunction with road safety projects  to improve safety and reduce accidents in the borough.

Road safety aims

Our aims are to:
  • reduce accident levels
  • improve public transport
  • reduce traffic pollution and safeguard the environment
  • increase travel options for people with disabilities, children, women, the old and the infirm
  • provide accessible parking facilities
  • improve pedestrian safety
  • promote cycling.
