We will usually make an agreement with developers to adopt newly constructed roads, as long as they have been constructed in accordance with our guidelines.
Existing roads
We do not normally adopt existing private roads unless they are brought up to current standards by the owners of the road.
Existing private roads, for example, are often unpaved, without kerbs, footways, surface water sewers, gullies and lighting. Road surfaces are sometimes in a poor condition.
