Meter faults
If a meter is faulty, we advise you to move to a different parking location.
You can choose to remain in the meter bay, but you could receive a parking ticket.
If the meter is found to be faulty, we will waive the parking ticket. However, you would need to challenge the ticket first. The reverse of the parking ticket explains how you make the challenge.
Reporting a meter fault
All meters have the Council’s telephone number on the meter label.
When reporting a meter fault, you will be asked for the meter number, the location of the meter and the type of fault.
We will send an officer to inspect the meter and repair it if necessary.
Money lost in a meter
To request a refund, you need to write Parking Services, and include these details in your letter:
meter number
location of the meter
type of fault
date the fault occurred
amount of money lost
Address your letter to:
Parking Services
Greenwich Council
Peggy Middleton House
50 Woolwich New Road
London SE18 6HQ
If the meter is found to be faulty, we will refund the money by cheque, postal order or postage stamps (for sums less than £1).
