A strategy for land use in Greenwich
A Unitary Development Plan sets out a vision for providing new homes, jobs, transport and local services, whilst also protecting the environment.
The Greenwich Unitary Development Plan, together with the London Plan, forms the current development plan for our borough.
Every planning application to build something new, or change the use of land or buildings in Greenwich, is considered against policies set out within this plan.
This makes the document very important for our environment - now and in the future.
Current, previous and future development plans
The current UDP was adopted on 20 July 2006. It will remain as the statutory development plan for Greenwich until the LDF is adopted, which will happen in the next few years.
The previous UDP, which was adopted in 1994, is no longer relevant for planning purposes.
Our UDPs are subject to continuous review and consultation, throughout their life-cycle.
Supplementary Planning Documents
The UDP is complemented by supplementary planning documents and guidance. These documents are not part of the statutory development plan, but they will be part of the Local Development Framework.
They provide further detail on the implementation of particular UDP policies and proposals.
