Local Development Scheme

A Local Development Scheme is a work programme for the production of a range of new planning policy documents about the use of land in the borough. These documents will eventually replace old style development plans, such as the Greenwich Unitary Development Plan.

These new documents are collectively referred to as a 'Local Development Framework'. By law, we must produce a Local Development Framework, setting out our land development strategy, policies and site proposals.

The work programme period

The Scheme sets out the planning policy documents that we will produce in the three-year period 1 January 2008 to 31 December 2010

This period covers completion of the Unitary Development Plan, and commencement of a Local Development Framework to replace it.

We record progress in the production of planning policy documents in an Annual Monitoring Report

In the meantime

While the first Local Development Framework is being produced, the Greenwich Unitary Development Plan will continue to serve as the statutory Development Plan for the borough (together with the London Plan).
