Making local planning decisions

Arial view of Greenwich borough Strategy: plans for land and buildings use
The Council's strategy for the long-term use of land and buildings in the borough is set out in the Unitary Development Plan (UDP).

However, the UDP will be replaced in the next few years by a group of policy documents known as the Local Development Framework (LDF).

About the Local Development Framework

The LDF will replace the Unitary Development Plan, and will guide all development in Greenwich. We are required to prepare the LDF by the Government, who have introduced a new planning system.

The LDF is made up of a group of planning policy documents. The documents help us to make local planning decisions that take into account social, economic and environmental factors, as well as regional and national planning guidance, such as the London Plan.

Progress towards a Local Development Framework

We are currently in the early stages of preparing the LDF documents.

Your views on our planning strategies

Development planning is a continuous process. The plans are subject to a review process that involves regular periods of intensive public consultation, involvement and negotiation.

You can have your say on the LDF documents when they are published for consultation.

Add or update your details on the LDF consultation database.

Consultation events will be advertised both on this website and in Greenwich Time.
