Eliminating discrimination

 
Departments are required to undertake Equality Monitoring Reviews (EMR) on all relevant policies and service functions in relation to five equality categories:

  • race
  • gender
  • disability
  • sexual orientation
  • age 
EMRs identify the equality consequences of policies/service functions and ensure, that as far as possible, negative consequences for a particular sector of the community are eliminated, minimised or counterbalanced by other measures.
