Family Learning Festival
A series of exciting FREE activities, talks and events for all ages will take place throughout October to celebrate our month-long Family Learning Festival.
Launch event
The Festival kicks off with a free launch event on Saturday 11 October at the National Maritime Museum. Doors will be open from 11am – 4pm and you will find a range of creative family activities on offer, including treasure hunts and a number of special performances.
Festival theme
This year’s theme is 'Challenge' and there will be opportunities for everyone, from under-fives to older residents, to take part in something new and share your experiences with family and friends.
Family Learning Festival is a national campaign to raise awareness of the importance and benefits of families and friends learning together. It covers all forms of learning, and is also lots of fun.
You will be able to find details of further learning and educational opportunities for adults at our events, alongside advice on gaining new skills, training and employment.
Closing event
At a special Family Learning Festival closing event at the National Maritime Museum on Friday 31 October, you will be able to see a special display based on the Olympic rings, which symbolise Greenwich’s role as a 2012 Olympic host borough.
Doors for this event will be open from 11am – 4pm and Councillor Jackie Smith will be attending.
Children attending any of the Family Learning Festival events must be accompanied by an adult.
Activity and fun
Councillor Jackie Smith, Cabinet Member for Children and Young People, said: "Family Learning in Greenwich continues to go from strength to strength and involves people of all ages.
"The annual festival also helps highlight the great work that takes place throughout the year in our Children’s Centres, schools and elsewhere. It encourages parents and carers to take an active role in their child’s learning, but also stresses the importance of fun activities."
